CUMBERLAND — Cumberland is ready to show off its holiday spirit.
Following the completion of its 18-month downtown revitalization project, the city will showcase the new space with a full schedule of activities to usher in the season.
The annual tree lighting ceremony will be held Nov. 29 at 5 p.m. at the Liberty Street parklet. Acoustic music will be provided by Briana Merkel, Harley Kuhn and Donnie Carman, and many downtown businesses will be open late and offer special sales and treats.
Small Business Saturday will kick off the official holiday shopping season Nov. 30. There will be give aways throughout the day at the Liberty Street parklet stage and many downtown shops will offer special sales and holiday treats.
Santa and Mrs. Claus will appear at The Rosenbaum Building, 118 Baltimore St., Saturdays, Nov. 30 through Dec. 21, from 1 to 3 p.m. Each child will receive a treat bag while they last.
The second annual Winter Festival and Market will be held Dec. 14 throughout Cumberland’s Historic City Center from 4 to 9 p.m. Festivities include live music on two stages, over 20 artisan vendors, down town shops and restaurants, arts and crafts for kids, fire pits for making s’mores and a bicycle decorating contest. Admission is free and open
to all ages.
The final event of the season, a ball drop and fireworks show, will take place New Year’s Eve from 10:30 p.m. to midnight on Historic City Center. DJ Jimmy Hook will play music and the Downtown Development Commission will pro vide giveaways.
