"Downtown, where all the lights are bright!" Local theatre group Acting Out for Good returns to the Loft with SHOUT! The Mod Musical! Journey back in time to the swingin' 1960s for your favorite pop songs of the era like "Don't Sleep in the Subway," "To Sir with Love," "Son of a Preacher Man," and so many more, woven into a story of second-wave feminism and girl power!
The UK of the '60s saw a cultural shift from the traditional social was of the post-war period to a new awakening for women as agents of their own destinies. The young women in the Mod movement were at the forefront of these changes as they challenged the advice of their parents' generation and came to realize that the most important voices to listen to...were their own.
You'll laugh, you'll sing, you'll empathize, and by the end, we know the Mod Girls will make you wanna SHOUT!
This production is recommended for ages teen and up due to mild adult content.
In line with Acting Out for Good's charitable mission, the cast and creative team have chosen to donate a portion of the box office proceeds to the Women's Health Center of Maryland.
